The ArtNoble Culinary Field Trip invites students to experience the joy of cooking while exploring connections between mathematics, science, nutrition, and visual arts. Hosted at the University of South Alabama, this immersive field trip transforms the kitchen into a hands-on classroom where students build academic knowledge through meaningful, real-world experiences.

Working alongside instructors, students will prepare a delicious recipe while learning essential culinary techniques, practicing kitchen safety, and developing teamwork and communication skills. Throughout the experience, students apply mathematics by measuring, estimating, comparing quantities, and using fractions while following a recipe. They investigate science concepts by observing physical and chemical changes in food as ingredients are mixed, heated, and transformed.

Students will also explore the importance of nutrition by discussing healthy food choices, balanced meals, whole foods, and how nutrients fuel the body and brain. These conversations encourage lifelong healthy habits while helping students understand the connection between nutrition and overall wellness.

To complete the experience, students will create an observational drawing of their finished culinary creation, using the elements of art to capture color, texture, shape, value, and composition while reflecting on their creative process.
The experience concludes with students sharing and enjoying the meal they prepared together while celebrating creativity, learning, gratitude, and accomplishment.
