Service Description
The Art of Equestrian takes place on an equestrian farm, where students are immersed in the natural environment of horses and land-based learning. Students learn the fundamentals of horse care, including how to properly saddle a horse, and experience guided interaction through riding, building confidence, trust, and connection. Students are guided by a trained facilitator through a structured process of observation, thinking, creating, connecting, and applying. Each student receives a workbook to record their experiences through written reflection, drawing, and creative expression. Students also engage in hands-on activities in art, STEM, or storytelling, allowing them to actively explore concepts and bring their learning to life. Through both verbal discussion and documented exploration, students develop understanding, express their ideas, and make real-world connections that support whole-child development. The Art of Equestrian introduces students to the relationship between humans, animals, and the land through immersive equestrian experiences rooted in observation, interaction, and reflection. Students explore horse behavior, movement, and care while developing awareness of nonverbal communication, responsibility, and trust. Through guided engagement, they begin to understand how animals respond to human energy and how connection is built through presence, consistency, and respect. This experience integrates science, art, wellness, and STEM-based learning, allowing students to explore animal biology, environmental systems, movement, and real-world applications of structure, balance, and function. Students engage in creative expression, sensory observation, and critical thinking as they make connections between the natural world and human interaction. Throughout the program, emphasis is placed on emotional awareness, body regulation, and confidence-building, supporting the development of the whole child—mind, body, and spirit. This program aligns with Alabama Course of Study standards across multiple elementary grade levels and can be adapted to meet specific grade-level requirements.
