Service Description
**The Art of STEM (or STEAM)** Join us for a 3-day immersive, hands-on learning experience designed to engage the whole child—mind, body, and spirit. The Art of STEM invites students to explore the foundations of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through guided, project-based learning. Through structured building challenges and creative problem-solving, students investigate how things work, how systems are designed, and how ideas move from concept to creation. When expanded to STEAM, artistic expression is integrated to deepen creativity, design thinking, and innovation. This experience takes place in a collaborative learning environment where students are guided by a trained facilitator through a structured process of observation, thinking, creating, connecting, and applying. Each student receives a workbook to record ideas, document discoveries, and reflect on their learning throughout the program. Students engage in hands-on STEM/STEAM projects that introduce foundational concepts such as force, motion, energy, simple machines, and design systems. Through building, testing, and refining their creations, they develop critical thinking, resilience, and the ability to solve real-world problems. Artistic elements are woven throughout the experience, allowing students to express their ideas visually and creatively while strengthening innovation skills. Throughout the program, students will: • explore engineering and design through hands-on building challenges • investigate scientific concepts such as motion, energy, and structure • apply problem-solving and critical thinking to real-world scenarios • express ideas through art, design, and creative storytelling • reflect on their process and refine their work through iteration This program integrates STEM, art, and wellness to support creativity, confidence, and curiosity while building foundational skills for future innovation. The Art of STEM/STEAM is aligned with the Alabama Course of Study and is designed for elementary-age students and an accompanied caregiver.
